A Son Returns!

The photo to the left is of Matthew as he left for the MTC two years ago. I'm not sure I trust myself to write today. I'm filled with butterflies at the thought of my son Elder Matthew DeWayne Otis returning from Russia. He's been serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years. He has now fulfilled his obligation and is returning home.

It's a very long trip home for him. He had to drive 6 hours from his city in Kurgan to the Mission home in Yekataringburg Russia. Then he was able to spend the evening with his traveling companion, his wonderful Mission President Allen and his sweet wife Sister Allen.

I have never spoken to a more kind hearted, thoughtful and spiritual man. I'm grateful to have been able to place our son in President Allen's care while serving in Russia. I always knew he had our sons best interest and safety in mind. Our gratitude as a family knows no bounds.

I'm posting several photo's in progression today. I pray they come through. The first ones will be of Matthew in the MTC and then the last the ones as he is leaving the mission field and having his tie cut off, as is tradition, by the Mission Presidents wife. I hope you enjoy this journey as much as we did seeing his happy face.

Thank you Matthew, for your service, obedience, courage, long suffering, faith, hope and positive attitude while serving the Lord full time for two years! You are amazing!

Love Mom
