I woke this morning to two letters. Both from Russia. One was from Elya telling me that she would try very hard to get a photo of herself and our missionary Elder Otis, in a photo for me. I was so excited! I hope he is able to stop at the mission home on his way to Sergut where he will be serving this transfer. Our son is very excited about moving to this isolated city in Siberia where he can preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. It must be an amazing feeling to be able to teach someone about our Savior--who may not have had a chance to ever learn of Him otherwise.
As my friend Elya has said, God was taken from Russia for over a century. Now our sons and daughters bring that light of hope and brotherly love and good examples to the Russian people. We pray that our son can make a difference while he serves.
I think of my son in Los Angeles passing cars that are set on fire and a drug deal in the local Mac Donald's parking lot. All this in order to knock on a door to share the "Plan of Happiness." These are my hero's, my children and my examples. To bring people out of the darkness and into the light is something they just do without thought each day of their lives. I feel blessed to be a part of their lives. I do however, hug my youngest sons closer these days and savor each day of their remaining childhood. Soon they will follow in their brothers footsteps. I'll have to let go of them too as they mature and find their own way in the world. Being a mom is a rough job on a good day. Believe me I know! But living the gospel has made such a positive difference in all our lives and at the end of each day--I'm grateful for the struggle.
Quote of the day:
"Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands; sing forth the honour of his name; make his praise glorious." ~Psalm 66:1-2
